Now that over a year has passed since my Cleft Lift surgery, I have been reflecting on how much it has improved the lives of my family and I.

Prior to visiting your clinic, when I first had my Pilonidal Cystectomy, I had to undergo a painful and cumbersome healing routine. Despite daily nurse visits and a plethora of techniques in wound care, I still suffered numerous infections, which stalled or regressed progress.

With my social and physical health at all-time lows, my parents had the perfect suggestion—the Cleft Lift. With the procedure unavailable in all of Canada, we were extremely fortunate to discover the Sternberg Clinic on the internet. There, we read innumerable success stories of patients in similar Pilonidal plights, even some from Canada, who experienced swift recoveries thanks to your expertise. My case would be the same.

My Cleft Lift recovery was simple in comparison to a year with an open wound. Although some anxiety of my former surgery carried over, removing the drainage tube was a breeze, the dissolvable sutures faded away, and in due time, even the small tear ceased to bleed, and so too did any stress I held.

This past school year has been incomparable to the last now that I have been Pilonidal-free. Where I used to sit through traffic to get to and from school, I was now able to take the subway and a long walk quite effortlessly. Where I was unable to participate in gym class much the previous year, I could now play any sport. Where the previous year, I could not visit my friends or travel due to visits from nurses for unpacking, cleansing, and repacking my open wound, I could now once again be a teenager, and partake in social events.

This summer only represents a hyperbole of my life’s improvement during the school year. I have become more active across my favourite activities, even swimming every day just last week, and I now enjoy every second as much as, if not more than, before I first dealt with Pilonidal Disease. Just as importantly, my family no longer has to worry about my health, and we can resume all of our excursions just as we used to.
